Nana Knows B E S T
Posted on September 07 2016
We all know that mom knows best, but sometimes we forget that Nana is a part of that trusted bunch too. And even though the way we raise our children changes from decade to decade, there's always some valuable nuggets that you only acquire from experience in the amount of years you've lived on the earth.
These days it's all about breast feeding for as long as possible and not letting baby sleep on their stomachs. Surprisingly, having baby sleep on their tummy was the common advice doctor's gave when I was a baby and mothers weren't as shamed for not breast feeding for as long as possible like we are today. So sometimes these shifts in trends make it difficult to remember that even though things change over time, Nana has a lot of valuable insights that are worth listening to.
Even insights on the little things are valuable. Like picking out a watermelon, for example. Sounds easy, right? Well, not for me. I totally suck at it. But my mother is a pro and my little ones reap the tasty benefits. It's the little things like this add up and make #momlife a little bit easier.
So whether it's picking out a good piece of fruit or looking for support to feel ok about letting your 8-month-old cry it out a little to learn how to soothe themselves to sleep, don't forget that Nana is (still) a mama too and she probably has some valuable insight. It only takes a minute to listen.
