Be S T I L L, My Heart
Posted on June 15 2016
Be still, my heart. No seriously. Sit still... It's summertime and boy! are there some serious cases of 'ants in pants' around here already. Want a quiet activity to do with your littles that doesn't involve non-stop screen time or jumping on the couch? Check this out.
Our fave summer activity involves COLLABORATION. It's a skill that many kids don't often learn or understand... Well, many adults need to hone in on this skill too, let's be honest. Anyway, we collaborate on pieces of art - allowing one person to draw out an idea (in this case, mom) and the other to paint or color it in. It's a lot of fun and we've now a 'gallery' of memorable artwork that decorates our house. Most importantly, we've created fantastic summertime memories that will last a lifetime.
Feeling extra adventurous? Make a mixed media piece with extra buttons, magazine clippings, old fabric or craft scraps!
Whether you feel you have talent or not, dust off that right side of your noggin and get creative with your littles this summer! Just remember, the best thing about art is that it's completely subjective and it will keep your kids thinking creatively and teach them to trust that you both can work together creating one beautiful outcome.
